Manila Bay
Travel Guide > Asia Travel > Philippines Travel > Manila Travel

Approaching Manila from high up, from the gorgeous sunset side of Manila Bay, the city profile is a humble one of a sprawling settlement hugging the long flat rim of the land. The bay is a vast, almost perfect circle of sea, one of the world's best anchorages - dominating the low-lying port by the Pasig River. In the hazy middle distance, a big shining body of water called Laguna Lake looks over the city's eastern shoulder. Over the centuries, these placid lake waters have overflowed and spilled downriver back to the sea, nudging Manila into being.
