Philippines - Driving in the Philippines
Travel Guide > Asia Travel > Philippines Travel >
A valid foreign or international driver's license is needed. Driving is on the right side of the road and normal traffic regulations apply. City speed limit is 60 kph. But if you are used to regimented traffic conditions, driving in Manila is not for you. Traffic is heavy during rush hours. Drivers do not respect lanes. Jeepney drivers (for example) drive without a care for life and limb. A word of caution: be wary of buses, jeepney and taxis that are apt to cut and overtake you just to pick up a passenger. If you don't want to have your nerves all frayed up, it is better to hire a local chauffer to drive you around.
