There are around 21 dailies and 15 magazines in Manila and the number still seems to be growing. About 98 percent of them are in English. The more popular newspapers are Manila Bulletin, Daily Inquirer, Manila Chronicle, Manila Standard, Daily Globe and Manila Times. Some publications like What's On in Manila and Expat are targetted. towards foreigners. Major international newspapers and magazines are available at leading bookstores and hotel newsstands.

Manila has five television channels. Some even have cable TV which can tap the broadcast of the US military installation at Clark Airbase. Television programs feature shows- in English and American TV series. In radios, AM stations broadcast mainly in Filipino and FM stations broadcast in English.

Going to the movies is perhaps the most popular pastime in Manila. Thus, one can see cinemas in every shopping mall. Cinemas feature a lot of imported English films. Movies run for only a week but they run continuously in cycles from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. So you can go in a movie house, catch the middle of the screening and just wait for the first portion to be reshown.
